FAQ’s

Q.) How do I book a headshot session?

Please use my booking system by following the BOOKING tab at the top of the page. This will display my online diary where you can view available dates.

Q.) Do you take a deposit?

Yes - a £50 deposit is required for all bookings. This is deducted from your final balance. It becomes non-refundable in the event that you cancel or alter the booking 48hrs before the session.

Q.) When do you take the remaining payment for the session?

The remaining balance is due on the day of the session. This can be paid in person via Bank transfer.

Q.) Where will the session take place?

I shoot out of my gorgeous studio in Bermondsey. Being an old building it benefits from big windows and high ceilings giving us a soft, natural light to play with which is ideal for creating beautiful headshots. Exact location provided upon booking.

Q.) Is there parking near your studio?

Parking is available in the Bermondsey area via the JustPark app/website.

Q.) Can I bring a friend or parent with me to the shoot for support?

No. Is the short answer. Its important for the session that we are able to work without the distraction of another presence. I am very nice, I promise. The only people that may be accompanied are those aged 16 or under who must bring an appropriate adult/guardian with them. If you or your parents have any concerns about this please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss this.

Q.) I am very nervous in front of the camera - what should I do?

Its totally fine to be nervous and extremely common. This will be a brand new experience for most people which is why we start the session by getting to know each other first. I am here to put you at ease and make you as comfortable as possible so that we can get the very best out of you.

Q.) Ok, but I never have my photo taken - I am really un-photogenic!

If it's the first time ever you've done a headshot session - then do not worry! I've got you. We'll talk through absolutely everything beforehand and make sure you're totally at ease with what to expect. Everyone starts as a beginner at some point. I also don’t believe in the word ‘photogenic’. We can leave that at the door.

Q.) Is there anything I can do to prep for the session?

Yes. Read my section on Prep.

Q.) Would it be possible to email/chat over the phone in advance to discuss what I am after from the session?

We will discuss everything on the day of the shoot. Please read the prep section (via Info) carefully to make sure that you have packed everything you need.

Q.) Can we listen to music while we shoot?

Absolutely! I have discovered so much great music this way.

Q.) Do you take references?

I think this should be handled delicately. If these are references belonging to another photographers work please avoid being too prescriptive. I will attempt to achieve your ideal outcome in my own style. If these are references belonging to my own body of work - then go ahead.

Q.) Will I receive prints of my headshots?

No, I’m afraid not. These have been consigned to history.

Q.) Can I bring my dog?

Its a hard no on dogs/pets of any kind I’m afraid. Please leave them at home.

Q.) Do you do half/split sessions for friends?

Sadly not.

Q.) How long should I allow for a session?

2-3hrs, depending on the package you have booked.

Q.) How do I contact you to book a session?

Please use the BOOKING tab at the top of the page.

Q.) How far in advance should I book?

Spaces become available 30-45 days ahead of time. The more in advance you can book the greater selection of dates you have to choose from.

Q.) Can I pay in cash?

Bank transfer is preferable.

Q.) Can I pay in instalments?

Unfortunately no, however I can be flexible around payday schedules. It’s much easier than having to keep a tally of payments.

Q.) Help!! I need the shots edited sooner than your standard turn around time for the unveiling of grandmas new mantlepiece!!? Is this something you can do?

How long is Grandma likely to be around for..? We can discuss further on the day of the shoot but there is likely to be a surcharge of £20. I can always be accommodating within reason.

Q.) Why is it called The Biscuit Factory?

Hard to say…

Q.) I thought this handy prop would look good in my new headshots to showcase my ability hold objects next to my head while smiling.

Yes - it does look nice; but I think we’ll leave it for now.

Q.) When will my final retouched shots be ready?

14 working days (2-3 weeks)

Q.) Will I receive the finished headshots in colour or black and white?

Both. Not many people still use b/w for headshots but I still love the timeless quality they produce.

Q.) Do you use natural light or studio light?

Both. Natural light has a beautiful soft quality which I often compliment with a single light set up.

Q.) Do you recommend bringing a Make Up Artist?

This is really a personal choice and not everyone will benefit from the services of an MUA. Consider whether it might be a worthwhile investment for you to hire someone who can take charge of your appearance on the day. Remember, you should be able to replicate the headshot version of yourself for a casting.

Q.) That makes sense. So how much Make Up should I wear?

Good question. Imagine that you have a meeting with an agent or casting director. You aren’t being seen for a particular role but you do want to look your professional best. The overall appearance should look natural so please do not over apply. Blemishes can always be edited out.

Q.) Cool. So how long will it take to receive my shots?

14 working days (2-3 weeks)

Q.) How will I receive my shots from the shoot?

Via Photo Workflow. This is an online photography gallery used by many other UK headshot photographers. It’s a fantastic system that makes the selection process much easier.

Q.) And how will I receive the edited images from the shoot?

Also via PhotoWorkFlow.

Q.) Can I have all the other shots from the gallery unedited?

I’m afraid not as they wouldn’t fully represent the quality of my work.

Q.) How long do the images stay up on the gallery for?

6 months, then I’m afraid the files will be deleted.

Q.) Great! And when will my shots be ready?

14 working days (2-3 weeks)

Q.) Do you have disabled access.

Yes. The space is wheelchair accessible via a lift.

Q.) Is it true you once walked across three countries in one day - in flip flops?!

It is.

Q.) Awesome! And when will my shots be ready?

14 working days (2-3 weeks)
